Description
As a member of the Philanthropy Unit for Foundations, Governments & Major Gifts, the Senior Officer, Major Gifts & Planned Giving will be responsible for designing and implementing a strategy for achieving annual revenue targets and planned giving opportunities for Fòs Feminista’s major gifts portfolio, while also coordinating the day-to-day operations of the program
The successful candidate will manage a portfolio of approximately 100 major and planned giving donors and prospects, cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding these donors to increase the flexible funding raised by Fòs Feminista year-over-year With support from the Senior Philanthropy Advisor, the Senior Officer will play a critical role in building meaningful relationships with Fòs Feminista’s top supporters with the potential to make five- and six-figure major, blended or planned gifts to advance our mission. This very hands-on position requires an implementer with excellent interpersonal, writing, and editing skills, and attention to detail.
The successful candidate will be able to multi-task, meet deadlines, build strong relationships, and have a collaborative and flexible work style to coordinate with a range of staff and external consultants. Responsibilities
Supervisory Relationship: The Senior Officer, Major Gifts & Planned Giving reports to the Senior Philanthropy Advisor.
Key Responsibilities
Design and implement a major gifts strategy to meet annual revenue targets, increasing giving each year from individual donors with the capacity to make annual gifts of $10,000 or more.
Strengthen engagement and build relationships with major donors and prospects through ongoing communication and virtual or face-to-face meetings.
Organize special events for donors and prospects in key geographic hubs in the United States as well as donor trips to visit Fòs Feminista partner organizations in the Global South, fostering authentic connection to the work of our partners and the women, girls, and gender-diverse people they reach.
Make direct solicitations to major donors for annual, blended or planned gifts and support Fòs Feminista’s senior leadership and board members to do so effectively.
Establish KPIs for the major donor program and review the status of the portfolio regularly to track progress and adjust individual and group strategies accordingly.
Execute and/or supervise the writing, design, and production of compelling major donor appeals and cultivation materials, in collaboration with an external fundraising agency, and the development of impact reports for select donors.
Collaborate with colleagues across the individual giving team in closing gifts from donor advised funds, IRA charitable distributions and stocks as well as planned giving bequests and beneficiary designations.
Work closely with the individual giving team to identify, research and qualify major and planned giving donor prospects and moves management strategies to cultivate higher giving. Collaborate with the Philanthropy Lead and Senior Philanthropy Advisor to implement a planned giving outreach strategy for the major donor portfolio, with proactive cultivation of strong planned giving prospects.
Develop and sustain collaborative working relationships with programs and advocacy staff to gather stories of impact and devise new fundraising strategies to meet the needs of Fòs Feminista’s local partners.
Execute and/or supervise research on prospects and current donors and the preparation of donor profiles and briefing memos.
Manage the acknowledgement process for major gifts.
Execute and/or coordinate the creation of mailing lists in Salesforce, as well as reports to support portfolio analysis.
Ensure the timely entry of all major donor communication into Salesforce (including phone calls, emails, meeting reports, etc.), ensuring the integrity of the database by maintaining up-to-date and accurate donor information
Requirements
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field required with a minimum of 5-7 years of frontline fundraising experience and a proven track record of cultivating, soliciting and closing five- and six-figure gifts
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
A deep understanding of and commitment to sexual and reproductive health, rights, and justice through an intersectional feminist lens
A solid understanding of the philanthropic sector in the United States; knowledge of feminist approaches to philanthropy preferred
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills; ability to build relationships and inspire action from donors
Fluency in English required; proficiency in Spanish and/or French preferred
Ability and willingness to travel within the United States, and to Latin America and other Global South locations as required
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects with strong attention to detail
Ability to remain highly organized in a multi-faceted organization and drive towards goals
Commitment to anti-racism, including a process of self-reflection and transformation around implicit bias
High degree of discretion, particularly as it pertains to sensitive donor information
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Outlook and experience working with donor databases; Salesforce preferred.
Salary Range and Employee Benefits
The annual salary for this role is USD $ 90,006.76.
