This is a unique opportunity for a motivated fundraising leader to capitalize on the momentum of a record-breaking fundraising year, including reaching the $95 million milestone for the Foundation’s $150 million campaign, “We Will. The Englewood Health Campaign for Every Tomorrow.” The successful candidate will be an accomplished and results-oriented development leader who thrives in today’s fast-changing, innovative healthcare environment and embraces the adaptability it demands.

Responsibilities

The Vice President will lead all fundraising and development efforts for the Medical Center and guide the strategic direction of the Foundation. The Vice President of Development will be an accomplished fundraising executive with proven success, impeccable ethics, and the strategic clarity needed to lead at the highest level. The VP must be able to run a well-oiled operation while shaping the Foundation’s long-term direction and cultivating a strong culture of transparency, consistency, and accountability.

Principal Duties And Responsibilities

The role requires executive presence and the confidence to work closely with the CEO and the Foundation Chairman—formulating fundraising and development strategies demonstrating defined goals and thoughtful solutions to emerging challenges. The Vice President must be able to communicate plans with precision and provide regular updates that build trust and ensure alignment. Experience within a complex healthcare system, navigating significant organizational changes, and managing large-scale campaigns will be especially valuable. As a visible ambassador in the community, this leader will also personally cultivate and solicit a portfolio of major and principal donors, strengthening relationships that advance the Foundation’s mission.

  • Develop and engage the system management team in fundraising

  • Develop and build strong relationships with Foundation trustees and other volunteers

  • Help to identify new Foundation trustees

  • Develop and manage an active portfolio of donors and prospects

  • Lead and/or participate in donor and prospect cultivation and solicitation

  • Oversee all aspects of HIPAA-compliant physician engagement and grateful patient initiatives.

  • Develop appropriate publications and communications and direct public relations activities to support all fundraising programs

  • Develop and implement a stewardship program aimed at cultivating deeper ties with donors

  • Recruit, hire and train new staff to maintain a high-performing development team

  • Supervise staff and manage internal staff relations according to the policies of the Medical Center

  • Monitor, evaluate and manage staff performance including performance review

  • Monitor and report regularly on the progress of the development program

  • Provide oversight and approval of departmental payroll and pay rule practices

Requirements

The ideal candidate will hold a bachelor’s degree, with an advanced degree in a management discipline strongly preferred. They will bring at least ten (10) years of successful fundraising experience—ideally within a healthcare or academic environment—and demonstrate a track record of increasingly responsible roles in complex development programs.

Significant experience in major campaign planning and execution is essential, along with progressively increasing managerial and supervisory responsibilities that reflect proven success in team building. The candidate should possess a deep understanding of and commitment to collaboration across organizational lines, as well as a history of recruiting, motivating, and managing high-level volunteers. Current knowledge of best practices in development, particularly in healthcare philanthropy, is required.

The role demands creativity, independent judgment, and the ability to implement innovative concepts. Strong verbal and written communication skills are critical, as is proficiency in utilizing performance metrics and fundraising technology systems such as Raiser’s Edge. A demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a team and foster a collaborative environment is key to success in this position.
