Senior Vice President, Federation Fundraising

Planned Parenthood Federation of America
Washington, DC / New York, NY – Hybrid

Anticipated Start Date: Open

Description

Planned Parenthood Federation of America and Planned Parenthood Action Fund seek a dynamic and strategic Senior Vice President (SVP) of Federation Fundraising. The SVP reports to Chief Development Officer (CDO) Leora Hanser in the Development division of PPFA.

Responsibilities

This leader oversees the Federation Fundraising team, the primary engine for unifying national and local fundraising efforts and partnering with affiliates to maximize fundraising opportunities in service of Planned Parenthood’s mission. The SVP is a newly created role reflecting two strategic priorities: significantly growing Planned Parenthood's fundraising through direct response and digital marketing channels, and reimagining collaborative fundraising across the federation to achieve efficiencies and deliver greater, more consistent value to affiliates of various sizes. The SVP leads a team of approximately 50 professionals.

This leader will be a key thought partner to the CDO in envisioning the future of federation fundraising at Planned Parenthood, architecting a new, more integrated model that expands revenue and enables effective fundraising practices within the federation, allowing greater investments for providing access to high-quality, affordable sexual and reproductive health care. The SVP will have a proven track record of excellence in direct response and digital marketing.

Requirements

PPFA will consider a broad range of backgrounds. The ideal candidate will align with the following qualifications:

  • A deep commitment to Planned Parenthood’s mission and to an inclusive and equitable work environment.

  • Minimum 20 years of experience in complex high volume marketing technology and fundraising systems, with at least 8 years of leadership experience in navigating federated or chapter-based fundraising models.

  • Contribution-based fundraising or nonprofit experience preferred.

  • Proven experience managing or integrating direct response/digital marketing programs to drive mass-market revenue.

  • Demonstrated success in leading organizational shifts, particularly in dynamics between a national office and local affiliates.

  • Expertise in designing and executing collaborative fundraising models that balance national scale with local impact.

  • A proven track record of leading with empathy and building lasting relationships while navigating challenging/high-pressure organizational dynamics.

  • Understanding of nonprofit governance structures and the ability to propose and lead the implementation of federation-wide agreements.

  • Ability to lead a diverse team of passionate fundraising professionals and developing talent.

  • Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree preferred
