Description

The Donor Relations Coordinator is a mid-level, non-management fundraising position and member of the ACLU Of Oregon’s Development Team. This role is responsible for managing a portfolio of mid-level donors and strengthening the organization’s donor pipeline through strategic qualification, cultivation, and stewardship efforts.

This position serves as both a relationship manager for donors with the capacity to give $1,000–$10,000 annually and as a key driver of donor engagement systems that support the broader development team. This role ensures donors are effectively qualified, thoughtfully stewarded, and meaningfully connected to the organization’s work.

Responsibilities

Mid-Level Donor Portfolio Management

  • Manage a portfolio of mid-level donors and prospects with the capacity to give $5,000+ annually.

  • Develop and implement individualized cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship strategies.

  • Build relationships through proactive outreach including calls, emails, meetings, and events.

  • Solicit gifts and support donors in increasing their giving over time.

  • Track donor engagement and progress toward revenue goals.

Prospecting & Qualification Leadership

  • Lead qualification efforts for the development team to build a strong and sustainable donor pipeline.

  • Conduct donor research and outreach through phone calls, virtual meetings, and personalized engagement.

  • Assess donor interest, capacity, and readiness for deeper engagement.

  • Recommend portfolio assignments and next steps for qualified donors.

  • Support and inform the organization’s portfolio review and moves management processes.

Donor Stewardship & Events Strategy

  • Design and implement a coordinated donor stewardship program for mid-level and priority donor segments.

  • Execute stewardship activities including personalized thank-you outreach, donor briefings, and targeted donor cultivation events.

  • Ensure all donors giving $1,000+ receive timely, personal acknowledgement.

  • Support board members and staff in participating in stewardship opportunities.

  • Support peer-to-peer fundraising efforts, donor-hosted and small-business events.

Data Management & Reporting

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date donor records in the CRM.

  • Track donor interactions, strategies, and outcomes to inform decision-making.

  • Support data integrity and contribute to portfolio analytics and reporting.

  • Utilize data to identify trends, opportunities, and areas for growth in donor engagement.

Campaign & Partnership Support

  • Support seasonal fundraising campaigns, including Give!Guide and other digital, email, and direct mail appeals.

  • Lead efforts to secure incentives, sponsorships, and partnerships with local businesses.

  • Assist in executing campaign-related stewardship and donor communications.

This position may be assigned other duties by the supervisor or supervisor’s designee as relevant to the position. Please note that the above list of duties is not comprehensive but generally demonstrates the types of matters under this position’s purview and responsibility.


Requirements

We are looking for individuals with the following experience, abilities, and values:

Required experience —

  • Two (2+) years of experience in nonprofit fundraising

  • Experience securing gifts; scheduling visits, soliciting, closing, and stewarding donors or funders.

  • Experience converting prospects into donors; qualification and cultivation outreach, stewardship events, and other relationship-building strategies.

  • Proficiency with donor-centered software; CRMs, databases, research tools, and other fundraising-related technology, or the demonstrated ability to learn new systems quickly.

Strongly preferred —

  • Knowledge of and values alignment with Community-Centric Fundraising principles and practices

  • Fundraising events experience

  • Experience working in a mission-driven or advocacy-based nonprofit environment

Salary Range and Employee Benefits

This is a salaried, exempt, full-time position. The annual salary for the Donor Relations Coordinator position is $71,496.

Because we have established an internal salary system that centers equity, clarity and transparency, competitiveness, and sustainability, salaries for positions are not negotiable.
