Description

The Donor Engagement Manager is the first point of contact for our donors and plays a vital role in ensuring they feel informed, appreciated, and connected to our mission. This role manages NBDF’s donor database, oversees gift processing and acknowledgment, supports peer-to-peer fundraising platforms, and provides insights that inform fundraising strategies.

You will work closely with the Advancement team to strengthen donor relationships and elevate the donor experience through thoughtful stewardship, clean data management, and data-driven decision-making. The ideal person for this role is some who is people-oriented and systems-minded, with a strong understanding of donor data and passionate for building efficient processes. You bring a solutions-focused approach to managing complex workflows, platforms, and partnerships.

Responsibilities

Donor Data & CRM Management

  • Manage and maintain the CRM to ensure accuracy, completeness, and consistency of donor data. Recommend and refine best practices for data collection, entry, and maintenance.

  • Develop and maintain custom fields, workflows, and automation to support internal business processes.

  • Develop and maintain user documentation; provide training and support to team members Coach Advancement staff on basic CRM functions to support cross-training and self-sufficiency.

Reporting, Analysis & Revenue Tracking

  • Segment donors and analyze giving trends to inform fundraising and stewardship strategies.

  • Create and maintain reports and dashboards to support performance insights and decision-making.

  • Track and report on all revenue streams (e.g., appeals, campaigns, events), including associated expenses, to support ROI analysis.

  • Partner with the Senior Vice President of Advancement on reconciliation and revenue reporting.

Online Giving & Gift Processing

  • Create and manage online donation forms and peer-to-peer fundraising event pages.

  • Process donations and import gifts from other platforms, ensuring timely and accurate CRM entry.

  • Track and report on third-party fundraisers, peer-to-peer campaigns, and chapter contributions.

  • Serve as the point of contact for donor acknowledgment and moves management tracking.  

Donor Research & Prospecting

  • Identify and recommend potential major gift prospects using institutional knowledge and CRM tools.

  • Provide prospect profiles and donor snapshots using the CRM’s integrated wealth screening features.

Requirements

To qualify for this unique opportunity, our ideal candidate should have the following skills, education, and experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree OR equivalent work experience

  • Minimum of 3-5 years of related experience in a nonprofit organization.

  • Experience and/or knowledge of the principles of annual campaigns, direct mail, Peer-to-Peer fundraising, endurance events, Facebook Fundraisers, Giving Tuesday, and other episodic campaigns and events

  • Proficient in donor database (Raiser’s Edge preferred), with experience using additional fundraising platforms (e.g., AppealMaker, Donor Drive, Q-Give)

  • Familiarity with donor research methods or ability to approach data and trends analytically

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office products and/or creative tools (Canva)

  • Well-developed organizational and administrative skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines Strong communication skills, both written and interpersonal

  • Ability to work under pressure, resolve challenges, and create solutions as needed Knowledge of and/or experience with supporting and/or fundraising for a health-based or rare disease organization is a plus Bilingual a plus

Where You Will Work

This is a fully remote position open to candidates anywhere in the U.S. Applicants should be comfortable working Eastern Standard Time as part of a dispersed team, communicating regularly via video conferencing and digital collaboration tools. This position requires limited domestic travel, typically 2–5 times per year, including for NBDF’s signature in-person events such as the Bleeding Disorders Conference.

Salary Range and Employee Benefits

We have carefully considered industry benchmarks, the experience required for this position, and internal salary comparisons to determine the appropriate salary range for this role. For this position, NBDF has set a starting base salary range $64,000–$74,000, and it is non-negotiable due to our company's commitment to maintaining internal pay equity. This approach ensures that we maintain a fair and consistent compensation structure across the organization.
