Description

Drive Longy School of Music’s philanthropic vision, leading all fundraising and engagement strategies to advance its mission of transforming lives through music. In partnership with Lindauer, Longy School of Music of Bard College is seeking a visionary Director of Development to lead all philanthropic and engagement initiatives in support of the bold mission of preparing musicians to make a difference in the world. The Director of Development will join an institution that celebrates inclusivity, creativity, and purpose, working alongside leadership and faculty to expand the reach and impact of Longy’s transformative programs.

Responsibilities

In this role, you will:

  • Lead all fundraising, development, and engagement strategies to sustain Longy’s mission and long-term growth.

  • Partner with the President and Board to design and implement ambitious philanthropic goals and initiatives.

  • Cultivate and steward relationships with major donors, foundations, and partners to secure transformative gifts.

  • Mentor and inspire a talented team, fostering collaboration, creativity, and a culture of equity and belonging.

  • Collaborate across departments to integrate fundraising with Longy’s artistic and academic vision.

Requirements

The successful candidate will bring significant leadership experience in major gifts or campaign management, exceptional communication skills, and a strong belief in the power of music to connect and transform.

Salary Range and Employee Benefits

The salary range for this position is $175,000 – $190,000.
