Description
The Osborne Association seeks a dynamic and experienced Director of Institutional Giving to oversee foundation, corporate, and government grant pipelines, which together contribute approximately 90% of Osborne's annual operating budget. This individual will manage a talented team of two Grant Writers: one focused on government grants, and the other on corporate and foundation funding.
The Director will play a critical role in securing and expanding institutional funding partnerships that drive Osborne's mission of transforming lives and communities impacted by the criminal justice system. As a key leader in the development team reporting to the Vice President of Development, the Director of Institutional Giving will ensure seamless coordination of grant strategies, deadlines, and deliverables to meet ambitious fundraising goals.
Responsibilities
Essential Duties
Develop and execute a comprehensive strategy for institutional fundraising across foundation, corporate, and government streams to meet Osborne's annual financial goals and expand funding opportunities.
Working closely with the President & CEO, and Vice President, Development, assist on the vision, management and execution of a multifaceted development program aimed to diversify the current funding portfolio and ensure individual giving at Osborne reaches its full potential.
Provide guidance, prepare, and coach the President & CEO, VP of Development, key volunteers and development staff on best practices in institutional cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship.
Oversee the solicitation of foundation, corporate, and government grants, ensuring proposals are well-researched, compelling, and accurately reflect Osborne's programs and mission.
Develop and implement metrics to monitor project success in collaboration with the development team and senior leadership.
Provide leadership in identifying new institutional funding opportunities and diversifying revenue streams. Strategically position Osborne in partnership discussions to advance large-scale, multi-year funding initiatives.
Maintain and grow Osborne's institutional funder pipeline. Track deadlines, reporting requirements, and relationship management for new and existing funders.
Directs completion and submission of government and foundation grant applications. Writes, edits and/or sources and engages talent to prepare all parts of applications and submissions including, but not limited to, writing narrative, conducting model research, developing budget, and compiling and submitting application.
Devise engagement and recognition opportunities ensuring donor acknowledgment, stewardship and, as appropriate, public recognition.
Maintain accurate records of all institutional grants, using Osborne's CRM system to track proposals, awards, and reporting deadlines. Provide regular analysis of institutional fundraising efforts to inform strategy.
Serve as a Development Ambassador, creating a donor-centric fundraising approach across the entire organization.
Supervise two Grant Writers, ensuring their work aligns with organizational priorities and is completed on time. Provide guidance on project management, grant writing, and relationship-building with funders.
Build and sustain relationships with foundation, corporate, and government contacts. Ensure timely and thoughtful stewardship of institutional funders, communicating Osborne's impact and outcomes effectively.
Serve as a thought partner to the Vice President of Development, contributing to overall development strategies. Support team growth and professional development through mentorship and skill-building opportunities
In-person attendance is required to collaborate with others.

Requirements
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree preferred.
8+ years progressive increasingly responsible experience in fundraising with at least five at the management level
6+ years of experience in institutional fundraising, including direct experience securing foundation, corporate, and government grants.
Demonstrated success managing teams and meeting annual fundraising goals.
Strong writing, project management, and communication skills.
Expertise in developing successful proposals and managing complex grant portfolios.

A strategic mindset and experience developing multi-year fundraising strategies.
Excellent interpersonal, analytical and organizational skills and ability to prioritize and execute responsibilities in the face of conflicting priorities.
Extensive Salesforce management experience.
Demonstrated awareness of incorporating racial, cultural, and socioeconomic equity and justice into communications and interpersonal interactions.
The ability to work independently, take initiative, be persistent, and maintain excellent follow-through.
Impeccable interpersonal skills, including the ability to maintain strong relationships with Osborne staff and external stakeholders.
Strong time management and organizational skills, flexibility, and comfort working under deadlines on a steady volume of projects.
Strong pipeline management skills with excellent attention to detail.
Agility and endurance to navigate a large, complex organization.
The ability to function as a respected representative of the organization, particularly in interactions with funders.
Knowledge of the evolving philanthropic landscape, specifically as it relates to institutional giving in the tri-state area.

Salary Range and Employee Benefits
$110,000 - $120,000 annually
