Description
The Development Associate is a full-time administrative role on our fundraising team. The position is essential to the growth of our development operations and events as they manage the details and processes that drive our success. Reporting to the Development & Communications Director, the Development Associate is responsible for gift processing, maintaining donor records in Salesforce, facilitating donor stewardship, and supporting event coordination. It’s a great opportunity for someone who is highly organized, self-motivated, and passionate about equitable access to justice for children.
Responsibilities
DEVELOPMENT OPERATIONS & DONOR STEWARDSHIP
Process gifts and write thank you letters in a timely and accurate manner.
Maintain accurate donor records in Salesforce and generate reports with light data analysis
Conduct monthly gift reconciliation to support the finance team.
Assist with individual giving campaigns, including mailings and donor list segmentation.
Help track and organize grant documents, including maintaining the SharePoint grants library.
Manage our email communication system in Constant Contact, supporting both program and development teams with list maintenance, scheduling, and sending email campaigns.
EVENT COORDINATION
Coordinate event logistics including promotional materials, guest registration, and day-of execution support.
Manage sponsor communications, including tracking benefits, collecting logos, and coordinating invoicing and acknowledgments.
Assist with Board Event Committee meetings by notetaking and helping with follow-up action items, as applicable.
TEAM SUPPORT & COLLABORATION
Meet with the Development & Communications Director weekly (Tuesdays) and attend staff meetings (Thursdays).
Participate in Development Team meetings monthly and occasional other commitments (e.g., DEIB training, staff retreat, etc.).
Assist with Board Development Committee meetings including notetaking.
Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS
1+ year of experience in nonprofit fundraising preferred but not required.
Passion for equity-driven nonprofit work and a willingness to grow in fundraising knowledge and practice.
Highly organized with strong attention to detail and accuracy; able to prioritize tasks appropriately and follow through with minimal supervision while managing multiple projects and deadlines.
Demonstrated problem-solving and decision-making skills, including knowing when to take initiative and when to seek input from teammates or supervisors.
Strong writing, verbal communication, and interpersonal skills, including handling sensitive or confidential information with care.
Self-aware, reflective, and able to build relationships with empathy and kindness.
Cultural humility and awareness when working with diverse communities; understanding of systemic intersectionality, especially as it impacts families of color facing economic injustice.
Experience with donor record management systems. Salesforce preferred but not required.
Proficient with Microsoft Office; Excel training is a plus.

EDUCATION
An associate degree, or any combination of education and experience, will qualify a candidate for this position. Education acquired outside of the United States is welcomed.
LANGUAGE PROFICIENCY
Ability to read, write and speak English with primary fluency is required.
Salary Range and Employee Benefits
The starting salary range for this role is $64,000 - $68,000 annually.
Salary increases are given each year. Medical, Dental and Vision, commuter benefits and retirement plan with 2 - 4% of annual salary contributed by Family Law CASA. Generous PTO policy starting at 25 days per year, 11 paid holidays plus five floating holidays of your choosing, and a fun work environment!
