Description

Project Hospitality seeks a strategic, relationship-driven, and results-oriented Chief Advancement Officer to lead the organization’s fundraising and advancement efforts during an important period of growth, transition, and opportunity. Reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer and serving as a member of the Executive Leadership Team, the Chief Advancement Officer will be responsible for building and leading a comprehensive advancement strategy that strengthens philanthropic revenue, expands donor and funder relationships, increases organizational visibility, and supports Project Hospitality’s long-term sustainability.

Responsibilities

The Chief Advancement Officer will provide executive leadership across fundraising, donor engagement, institutional giving, corporate partnerships, stewardship, and advancement operations. Responsibilities include:

Develop and implement a comprehensive advancement strategy aligned with Project Hospitality’s mission, strategic priorities, and long-term sustainability goals.
Grow philanthropic revenue through major gifts, individual giving, foundation support, corporate partnerships, sponsorships, annual campaigns, special events, and planned giving opportunities.
Partner closely with the Chief Executive Officer to cultivate, solicit, and steward major donors, foundations, corporations, civic leaders, and community partners.
Build and manage a strong donor and funder pipeline, including cultivation plans, stewardship strategies, and relationship management systems.
Strengthen unrestricted and flexible giving to support organizational capacity and sustainability.
Lead foundation and corporate fundraising efforts, including funder cultivation, proposal strategy, grant coordination, and stewardship.
Provide strategic oversight of fundraising events to ensure they support donor cultivation, relationship building, and revenue goals.
Partner with the Board of Directors to strengthen fundraising engagement, donor outreach, and philanthropic leadership.
Develop advancement systems, dashboards, calendars, reports, and performance measures to support accountability and informed decision-making.
Ensure donor communications, impact stories, campaigns, annual reporting, website content, and stewardship materials support fundraising and engagement goals.
Represent Project Hospitality with donors, funders, corporate partners, civic organizations, elected officials, faith communities, and community stakeholders.

Requirements

Required

Bachelor’s degree required; master’s degree preferred.
Minimum of 10 years of progressively responsible fundraising, advancement, or development leadership experience.
Demonstrated success securing major gifts and growing philanthropic revenue.
Experience cultivating and stewarding individual donors, foundations, corporations, and institutional funders.
Strong understanding of donor engagement, moves management, stewardship, and fundraising systems.
Experience working with executive leadership and boards to advance fundraising goals.
Strong communication, relationship-building, strategy, and leadership skills.
Ability to build systems, strengthen pipelines, and lead advancement work with focus, discipline, and accountability.

Preferred

Experience in human services, nonprofit leadership, or mission-driven organizations.
Knowledge of foundation, corporate, government, and philanthropic funding environments.
Experience with capital campaigns, planned giving, or major fundraising initiatives.
Experience leading or strengthening advancement teams, systems, and infrastructure.

Salary Range and Employee Benefits

The salary for this position is $125,000 annually.

The Chief Advancement Officer may be eligible for an annual performance-based incentive in accordance with organizational policy, available funding, achievement of approved advancement goals, and approval by the Chief Executive Officer and/or a Board-designated committee. Annual performance will be evaluated based on measurable advancement outcomes, including philanthropic revenue growth, unrestricted giving, donor retention, new funding opportunities, funder cultivation, board engagement, advancement systems, stewardship, and the effectiveness of fundraising activities.
