Donor Engagement Officer, Major Gifts

Description

The Donor Engagement Officer (DEO) will be focused on building a portfolio of new high capacity donors and be responsible for identifying, cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding individuals, corporations, and foundations with the potential to make significant financial contributions of $25,000 and above to the CCO.

The DEO plays a critical role in expanding CCO’s donor base and securing major gifts to support the mission and programs. This position reports to the VP for Advancement and will work within the Advancement department to identify opportunities in all CCO regions to align new donors with strategic needs for mission.

Responsibilities

Prospect Identification

  • Research and identify individuals, corporations, and foundations with the capacity to make major gifts.

  • Utilize wealth screening tools, prospect research, and networking to identify potential new donors.

  • Work alongside CCO staff and regional leaders across the organization to identify major donor prospects and establish relationships.

Cultivation and Relationship Building

  • Develop and implement cultivation strategies to engage prospective major donors.

  • Build strong relationships through personalized communication, meetings, events, and other touchpoints.

  • Tailor cultivation activities to align with donors' interests, passions, and philanthropic priorities.

Solicitation

  • Create individualized solicitation plans for each prospect in your portfolio.

  • Make direct solicitations for major gifts, including face-to-face meetings, written proposals, and presentations.

  • Collaborate with organizational leadership and other team members as needed to strengthen solicitations.

Stewardship and Donor Recognition

  • Ensure timely and meaningful stewardship of major donors, including personalized acknowledgments, updates on impact, and recognition opportunities.

  • Maintain ongoing communication to demonstrate appreciation and keep donors engaged with the organization's work.

Pipeline Management and Reporting

  • Manage a portfolio (100-150) of prospective major donors, tracking interactions and progress towards solicitation goals.

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records in the donor database, including contact reports, donor interests, and giving history.

  • Provide regular updates and reports on prospect activity, pipeline status, and fundraising outcomes.

Collaboration and Teamwork

  • Collaborate closely with colleagues across the Advancement team and other departments to maximize fundraising opportunities and support organizational goals.

  • Participate in prospect strategy meetings, donor cultivation events, and other team initiatives.

  • Establish clear annual fundraising goals and monthly and quarterly benchmarks in collaboration with the VP for Advancement.

  • Participate in or lead project based teams (ie. regional point of entry donor events, Jubilee donor events, etc.).

  • Participate in all required CCO training.

  • Pray regularly and frequently for the ministry of the CCO.

Requirements

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree or fundraising certification preferred.

Experience

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in fundraising, donor relations, sales, or related field, with a proven track record of securing major gifts.

  • Proficiency with social networking tools, database management software (ie. RE NXT, Salesforce), and Microsoft Office Suite.

Skill Set

  • Demonstrated success in identifying, cultivating, and soliciting high capacity donors.

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage and inspire donors from diverse backgrounds.

  • Strong strategic thinking and analytical skills, with the ability to develop and execute effective solicitation plans.

  • Highly organized, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines effectively.

  • Knowledge of fundraising best practices, donor motivations, and philanthropic trends.

  • Commitment to the mission and values of the organization.

  • Nurture growth through regular worship in a local church, prayer, Scripture study, and other spiritual disciplines.

Other Requirements

  • Ability to lift 20lbs.

  • Valid Driver’s License and reliable transportation for travel.

  • Must be able to travel approximately 30% travel, as needed.


Salary Range and Employee Benefits

$76,000 - $109,000 * this reflects our base region pay.

Other regions may be in a higher pay scale.
