RefugeeOne, located in the West Ridge (West Rogers Park) neighborhood of Chicago, has a national reputation for its success in assisting refugees fleeing war, terror, and persecution to build new lives of safety, dignity, and self-reliance. One of the largest resettlement agencies in the country and the largest in Chicago, this is an opportunity to steward and expand an already robust fundraising program. We are grateful to have relationships of mutual trust and respect with individual and institutional donors. We are looking to hire an experienced development professional to lead our growing organization’s fundraising efforts.


Responsibilities

The Director of Development & Community Relations will oversee and partner with a team of five experienced professionals, collectively responsible for raising RefugeeOne’s profile and $2M annually via the annual fund, major gifts, an annual event, volunteer engagement, and communications and marketing. This position reports to the Executive Director.


Requirements

  • Strategic, proactive, and goal-oriented fundraiser

  • Ability to manage a team of people to achieve results

  • Ability to collaborate effectively while working independently

  • Exceptional interpersonal skills; ability to easily build new relationships

  • Demonstrated excellence in organizational and management skills; detail-oriented

  • Strong writing, editing, and speaking skills to effectively communicate the transformative work of RefugeeOne to prospects, donors, volunteers, and leaders to solicit financial and other support

  • Current on trends and best practices in the field of non-profit fundraising

  • Passion for the mission and vision of RefugeeOne

  • At least 6 years proven success in non-profit fundraising

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in a leadership role of an organization with more than 10 full-time employees

  • At least 4 years of experience managing direct reports

  • Experience successfully soliciting major gifts

  • Familiarity with donor management software (DPO preferred)


Salary Range and Employee Benefits

$105,000-125,000
