Description

Partners for Public Good (PPG) seeks a strategic and entrepreneurial leader to design and drive the organization’s revenue strategy. As a member of PPG’s senior leadership team, the Director, Development & Partnerships will shape how PPG sustains and scales impact; aligning fundraising with programmatic priorities, organizational growth, and long-term financial sustainability. This role will guide how PPG secures philanthropic support while also expanding and diversifying resource development through state and local government contracts for direct services and other strategic partnerships.

The Director will report to the CEO and collaborate with senior leadership across PPG to design and drive strategies that expand the organization’s work through philanthropic funding, public-private partnerships, and government contracts. In close partnership with programmatic leaders, this role will guide how offerings are structured, positioned, and proposed to government partners and funders, and will align business development efforts across teams. This is a builder and leader role: designing strategy, strengthening systems, and enabling teams across PPG to effectively contribute to organizational growth and stability.


Responsibilities

Revenue Strategy & Program Leadership

Develop and lead PPG’s overall revenue strategy across philanthropic funding, contracting, and partnerships. Set annual and multi-year revenue goals aligned with organizational priorities and growth trajectory. Partner with strategy and programmatic leaders to evaluate and position PPG’s work for funding opportunities, balancing opportunity, delivery capacity, impact, and long-term sustainability.

Support program teams in identifying and pursuing new opportunities with philanthropic partners, strategically aligned partner organizations, and state and local governments, including contract opportunities and RFP responses. In collaboration with our operations team, build systems to track, forecast, and manage relationships and revenue across funding streams, using data to inform strategy and decision-making.

Stakeholder Management

Build and steward relationships with institutional funders, including foundations and philanthropic partners. Identify and cultivate partnerships with peer organizations that may enable joint funding proposals and catalytic work. Develop and oversee high-quality grant proposals, reports, and funder communications. Partner with senior leadership to engage funders and external stakeholders in support of PPG’s mission and growth, including briefing and prepping CEO and other senior leaders for high impact meetings. Represent PPG externally at conferences, convenings, and meetings with funders, government partners, and ecosystem organizations.

Delivery and Impact

Produce imaginative, high-impact, compelling proposals that advance PPG’s mission and deliver outcomes for communities. Deliver clear, artfully written deliverables including slides, memos, concept notes, proposals, and briefings that communicate our value proposition and impact. Quickly generate high value ideas in strategy meetings and collaborate effectively with internal strategy, programmatic, research, and operations teams. Maintain robust working knowledge of the field: trends in government needs, funder focal areas, political climate, and upcoming state and federal policy changes that may create opportunities for meaningful new work. Advise PPG staff on framing and project shaping for maximum impact and investment.

People Management

Build and lead a high-performing development function over time, including hiring, managing, and coaching staff as the team grows. Establish clear goals, systems, and expectations that enable team members to succeed and grow. Foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous learning within the development function and across teams. Promote a culture of philanthropy and shared ownership of revenue generation across the organization.

Organizational Leadership

As a member of PPG’s senior leadership team, collaborate with Directors, Vice President, COO/GC, and CEO on organizational strategy, priorities, and growth. Work cross-functionally to align revenue strategy with programmatic, operational, and strategic priorities. Lead and support resource planning and continuous improvement initiatives. Positively shape organizational culture, promoting equity, transparency, and accountability across PPG.


Requirements

We’re looking for candidates who are:

Strategic revenue leaders. You bring a clear vision for sustainable revenue across philanthropy and program service streams and operationalize that vision by shaping opportunities and building the systems that support scalable growth.

Fluent across funding models. You understand institutional philanthropy and government-funded work (e.g., contracts or fee-for-service), and bring experience building relationships with philanthropic partners and navigating those ecosystems to align funding with organizational strategy.

Compelling communicators. You clearly and persuasively convey complex information to diverse audiences that include staff, funders, senior government leaders, and partners. People-centered leaders. You are an experienced people manager whose leadership is rooted in coaching and mentorship. Individuals on your team excel, grow, and enjoy their work.

Change catalysts. You are experienced at driving organizational change and innovation initiatives, shifting culture, and building capacity among diverse stakeholder groups. Mission aligned. You are motivated by the opportunity to help state and local governments harness core operational functions so that every resident has a government they can count on, every day.

Qualifications

  • Seven or more years of relevant experience in development, strategic revenue growth, or consulting in the nonprofit, public, or mission-driven sectors.

  • Demonstrated experience securing institutional funding and/or revenue through government or public sector partnerships. Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Strong writing and communication skills, including experience developing proposals and external-facing materials.

  • Experience managing cross-functional projects and aligning teams around strategic goals.

  • At least four years of direct people management experience. Willingness to travel as needed (approximately 5-7 times per year).
