Marilyn Alexander
Marilyn Alexander is honored to serve on the Women of Color 5th Anniversary Committee, celebrating a powerful legacy of community, leadership, and sisterhood. She currently serves as Major Gifts Officer at International House, a nonprofit dedicated to fostering cross-cultural understanding, global awareness, and lifelong connections among a diverse community of students and scholars. In her role, Marilyn engages alumni and friends to support the next generation of changemakers. A proud Girl Scout Gold Award recipient, Marilyn credits scouting with sparking her passion for leadership and service. She brings to her work a deep commitment to inclusion, representation, and intergenerational connection.Before joining International House, Marilyn held development roles at NewYork-Presbyterian, the Endometriosis Foundation of America, A Better Chance, and The Abyssinian Fund—always drawn to organizations that reflect her values and create lasting impact. Marilyn has been a member of Women of Color in Fundraising and Philanthropy (WOC) since its inception in 2020. The recipient of the 2023 WOC Shine Award, she also serves on the board of WOC’s Greater New York chapter, where she helps support local efforts to uplift and empower women across communities.
